PRODUCT INTRODUCTION
Adsunib 12.5mg Capsule is a medication primarily used in the treatment of certain types of cancer. It belongs to a class of drugs known as tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs). The active ingredient in Adsunib is Nilotinib. This medication works by blocking the action of an abnormal protein that signals cancer cells to multiply. Adsunib is typically prescribed by oncologists for the management of chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) and gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST) in patients who have not responded to other treatments.
USES OF Adsunib 12.5mg Capsule
- Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML): Adsunib is indicated for the treatment of newly diagnosed adult patients with Philadelphia chromosome-positive (Ph+) chronic myeloid leukemia in chronic phase (CML-CP).
- Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumors (GIST): Adsunib is also used to treat adult patients with unresectable or metastatic gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST) whose disease has progressed on or who are intolerant to prior treatment with imatinib mesylate.
BENEFITS OF Adsunib 12.5mg Capsule
- Effective Treatment: Adsunib has shown significant efficacy in slowing down the progression of chronic myeloid leukemia and gastrointestinal stromal tumors.
- Improved Quality of Life: By inhibiting the growth of cancer cells, Adsunib helps in alleviating symptoms associated with CML and GIST, thereby improving the quality of life for patients.
- Oral Administration: Adsunib is available in capsule form, making it convenient for patients to take at home without the need for frequent hospital visits.
- Alternative Treatment: For patients who have not responded to or cannot tolerate other medications such as imatinib mesylate, Adsunib provides a viable alternative for managing their condition.
- Long-Term Management: Adsunib has shown promising results in long-term disease control, allowing patients to live longer with better disease management strategies.
SIDE EFFECTS OF Adsunib 12.5mg Capsule
- Gastrointestinal Issues: Common side effects of Adsunib include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. These symptoms can usually be managed with supportive care and may decrease over time as the body adjusts to the medication.
- Fatigue: Some patients may experience fatigue or weakness while taking Adsunib. It is essential to rest adequately and conserve energy during treatment.
- Hematological Abnormalities: Adsunib can cause changes in blood cell counts, leading to anemia, neutropenia (low white blood cell count), or thrombocytopenia (low platelet count). Regular blood tests are necessary to monitor for these abnormalities, and dose adjustments may be required.
- Liver Toxicity: Adsunib may cause liver enzyme elevation, which can lead to liver damage in some cases. Monitoring liver function tests regularly is essential during treatment.
- Cardiovascular Effects: Rarely, Adsunib may lead to QT prolongation (a type of abnormal heart rhythm) and fluid retention. Patients with a history of heart problems should be closely monitored while taking this medication.
- Skin Reactions: Adsunib may cause skin rash, itching, or dryness. These symptoms are usually mild to moderate in severity and can be managed with topical treatments or antihistamines.
- Pancreatitis: In some cases, Adsunib has been associated with pancreatitis, which presents with severe abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting. Prompt medical attention is necessary if these symptoms occur.
